I found it very interesting when we talked about handicapped people being sexy and attractive and I looked for some photos that have been taken in order to draw more attention to the Paralympics 2008: Arent't these beautiful???
yes, they are beautiful, indeed. Handicapped people are as attractive as "normal" people and I think these kind of pictures show that really well. People who think that all handicapped people are weird and ugly are extremely ignorant. I mean, look at them! They don't have to hide, do they? They're all really good looking and have amazing bodies. I've seen a documentary on the telly the other day, which showed girls in wheelchairs who wanted to be models. They were all stunningly beautiful and yet not accepted by society only because they were in a wheelchair. I think one of them had a car accident and couldn't move her legs anymore afterwards- that could happen to ANYONE! It's not her fault.. But when she goes shopping people look at her, start whispering and sometimes even point and laugh at her. That's not fair, is it? I think there should be more campaigns like this one, maybe one day the attitude people have towards handicapped people would change.
Very interesting topic! I could go on for hours... Well done :)
I'm looking forward to writing here regularly! I've never done that before and hope to manage it well =)
I'm gonna post comments to our course readings as well as some interesting links-if I can find some ;-)
